LIGHT TRANSMISSION CEREMONY - ILLUMINATING THE 12 GREAT VOWS OF BODHISATTVA AVALOKITESHVARA: GRACE OF BODHISATTVA AVALOKITESHVARA - LASTING FOREVER
On the occasion of commemorating the day of the ordination of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, Dai Tung Lam Hoa Sen Pagoda solemnly held the Light Transmission Ceremony on the evening of October 15th, 2022 (Lunar September 20th, the Year of the Tiger)

On their hands were brightly lit lotus lanterns as the entire procession walked mindfully while reciting the sacred name of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara

In the midst of the squalid Saha world, witnessing sentient beings being confused and not awake. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, out of compassion, showed up in a timely manner, to transform the population through many different appearances and embodiments. As mentioned in the Lotus Sutra, he has 32 different incarnations. But all is just one, is one but also all, is the best that Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara brings to life.

Therefore, each lotus lantern was sequentially lit and passed on to hundreds of Buddhist followers and fellow practitioners, not only symbolizing the continuity of tradition but also illuminating the heart with compassion, joyous giving, patience, and the aspiration to practice the 12 great vows of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara - the compassionate mother of all living beings.

The lotus lanterns are designed in the shape of lotus flowers - symbolizing the light of Buddha's teachings shining upon us.

In a solemn and peaceful atmosphere, the entire congregation aspireed towards the compassionate salvation from suffering of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. This aspiration not only conquered the seeds of anger and blame within each Buddhist follower, but also had the power to conquer all seeds of greed, poverty, affliction, indulgence, and delusion within each person

Hundreds of Buddhist followers walk together, lighting up the altar of the sacred statue of four-faced Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara

After the light transmission ceremony at the Buddha Recitation Hall, the entire congregation walked in an orderly manner to the area of the altar of the sacred statue of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Everyone walked in peaceful meditation, firm and harmoniously chanting the holy name of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, while holding shimmering and mystical candles in their hands. The candlelight represents wisdom, while the warmth of the candle symbolizes the compassion of the revered Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, whom every Buddhist follower respects and relies upon. This light is also the brilliant radiance of faith and enlightenment, the light of Buddha's teachings shining upon each Buddhist follower.

The shimmering candles are lit in the midst of the dark, lonely night, dispelling the obscure shadows that loom over our lives

Hundreds of floating lanterns were released into the river by Buddhist followers and members of the Dai Tung Lam Hoa Sen. The sacred and colorful lights served as a prayer for blessings, as well as a wish for the continued existence of Buddhism, world peace, and the well-being of all beings on the path of practice and cultivation, following the compassionate teachings of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, for the personal and familial peace and liberation of all beings from samsara.

We cordially invite all Buddhist practitioners and members of the Dai Tung Lam Hoa Sen to view the images capturing the ceremony of remembrance of the renunciation of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara:
