The Assembly welcomed the presence of venerable monks and nuns, the monastic delegation from Thang Nghiem Monastery, and over 2,000 Buddhist followers and benevolent people from all over the country.
The assembly was solemnly organized to honor and remember those who passed away during the pandemic, wholeheartedly praying for the departed souls to be soon liberated and reborn in a peaceful realm. The event also aimed to help soothe the pain and losses that still lingered in the hearts of those left behind and the families who lost their loved ones in the pandemic.
In the morning ceremony on August 25th, under the guidance of Venerable Monk Thich Minh Thanh - the Abbot of Thang Nghiem Monastery, the assembly officially conducted the ritual of offering incense and flowers, presenting pure and noble offerings to the Three Jewels. This is a practical and magnificent act towards the Three Jewels, praying for the national prosperity, people's happiness, and the liberation of the founding ancestors, teachers, and benefactors of the Buddhist community. In the solemn and pure atmosphere of the ceremony, thousands of Buddhist followers and practitioners wholeheartedly chanted the Buddha's name " Amitabha Buddha," praying for the Three Jewels' support to help the festival achieve its ultimate goal.
After the morning ritual, other ceremonies such as the ritual of offering meals to the spirits, the ritual of bathing the spirits, the ritual of granting ranks to the deceased, and the chanting of the prayer for the deceased will be held in the afternoon and evening.
This Dharma assembly would pray for the liberation of over 11,000 departed souls with sincere aspirations for the speedy liberation of all sentient beings to the Pure Land. On the first day, the presiding master and venerable monks would offer prayers for more than 2,000 departed souls.
